The Owner's Goal

The yacht’s existing refrigerator was struggling to maintain consistent temperatures in Grenada’s tropical climate.

The compressor was running for long periods, energy consumption had increased and temperatures varied significantly depending on the time of day. The owners wanted dependable refrigeration for longer cruises without placing unnecessary demand on the battery system.

The Challenges

Tropical Conditions

High ambient temperatures placed considerable demand on the existing refrigeration equipment.

Restricted airflow around the compressor reduced efficiency and contributed to long running times.

Several parts of the original system were approaching the end of their practical service life.

Our Solution

We assessed the complete refrigeration system, including the compressor, evaporator, insulation, ventilation and electrical supply.

Rather than replacing one component in isolation, we identified the factors affecting overall performance and developed a complete upgrade plan.

New refrigeration equipment was installed, airflow was improved around the machinery space and controls were configured to maintain consistent temperatures while minimising energy use.
